Telangana Rs 5 Lakh Insurance Scheme for Gig Workers: Chief Minister Revanth A. Reddy announced this scheme for gig workers during a program in Hyderabad on Saturday. He said that all the gig workers like Cab Operators, Auto Rickshaw Drivers and those who joined online food delivery companies will be covered by an accidental insurance policy soon. What is Telangana Gig Workers Accidental Insurance Scheme? 

Under this Telangana Gig Workers Insurance Scheme all the gig workers are able to take accidental insurance benefits of Rs 5 Lakh annually by the Telangana State Government. Along with it they all will be covered under Rajiv Aarogyasri Scheme for better medical care up to Rs 10 Lakh per annum. 

CM Reddy also said that Mobile App for the Gig Workers are being developed by T-Hub on the basis of Ola. Soon published for the Gig Workers in the state. He also instructed the state government officials to find what type of problems faced by the gig workers during their day routine and try to solve their problems under Rs 5 lakh accidental insurance policy. 

Eligibility of Rs 5 Lakh Accidental Insurance Scheme

CM said that our government will provide social security to all the unorganised workers under this new policy which is based on Rajasthan Workers Policy. In this scheme all those who run their own auto rickshaw and who are working as cab drivers are eligible for the scheme. Along with that, those who joined any online company for working as delivery boys are also eligible to get accidental insurance policy benefits.

During speech, CM announced financial assistance to the family of a food delivery boy who died after being chased by a dog 4 months ago due to jumping from the 3rd floor of the building. Because the KCR Government doesn't provide them a single penny as financial assistance. Give them Rs 2 Lakh from the Chief Minister Relief Funds. 

When will be Registration start and end for the Gig Workers Insurance Scheme? 

CM said that those who fall into the gig workers category have to submit their applications from 28th December, 2023 and last date of application is 6th January, 2024. Make sure if you are eligible then submit your application between this time period.

How to submit an application under the Telangana Gig Workers Insurance Scheme? 

He said that if you are eligible for the scheme then between 28th December to 6th January Grama Sabhas to be organised in your area. Where you have to submit a format of your application to the head of the Grama Sabhas. Also candidates are free to submit their applications through online mode. But the state government doesn't declare any official website for online application.
